Here at Tyn Cellar Farm we have five rare breed Soay Sheep, four ewes – Mary, Cindy, Tamashanter and Barbie, and a ram called Callum. The Soay sheep, are originally from the island of Soay in the St Kilda group of islands. They are a primitive breed, thought to have been brought to the island of Soay by the Vikings. They are a small sheep with the ewes weighing 25kg and rams 45kg and come in a variety of colours from dark brown to light tan with dark patches. They are a horned breed and are very hardy.
